282 To all whom it may Concern be it known that I mary Wallace of anne arundel county in the State of maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of me thereunto moving five shillings Current money To me in hand paid have released from slavery Liberated manumitted and Sett free and by these presence do hereby release from Slavery liberate manumit and Set free my Negro Child named Nanny being of the age of fifteen years and (having purchased her of a Certain margaret or mary Bulger as by reference to said Receipt for the said purchase money will more fully appear) able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro Woman named Nanny. I do declare To be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude and Service To me my Executors or administrators forever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 26th day of July in the year of our Lord 1806 signed sealed & delivered her in the presence of Mary X Wallace (seal) Jno Cromwell mark Jos Hawkins Rec.d on the day of the date within mentioned the sum of five shillings current money it being the full Consideration money within mentioned her Mary X Wallace (seal) mark |
