277 work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintenance and him the said negro man named Nace I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted and discharged from all manner of Servitude or Service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my Seal this twenty eighth day of May in the year of our Lord 1806 her Signed Sealed & Delivered Sarah X Marshel (Seal) in the presence of mark Rich.d Merriken Elizabeth Merriken Received on the day of the date within mentioned the Sum of two hundred Dollars it being the full Consideration Money within mentioned her Sarah X Marshel (seal) mark Anne Arundel County to wit On this twenty eighth day of May 1806 personally appears Sarah Marshel party to the within Instrument of writing before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid and Acknowledges the same to be her Act and Deed for the purposes within mentioned and the Negro man within named to be henceforth manumitted & discharged from all services to her or to any claiming under her & to be free & manumitted according to the Acts of Assembly in such Cases made and provided Acknowledged before Recorded 28 May 1806 Richd Merriken |
