274 Examd To all whom it may Concern be it known that I John Brice senr of the City of Annapolis being fully persuaded that all men are born free & equally entitled to the enjoyment of their Liberty do hereby by these presents emancipate & set free from all my heirs Executors and administrators the following slaves who shall be free at the expiration of the periods herein after mentioned Sall a mulatto & Sib a black now living with my son John Brice Jr shall be free on the fifteenth day of april Eighteen hundred & twelve Letty now in Frederick with Mrs Jeremiah Browning Eliza & Kitty Gray Children of Dinah Gray shall be free as follow Letty at the Expiration of Seventeen years to be Computed from and after the fifteenth day of present month Eliza & Kitty from and after this date In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 19th day of April 1806 Witness Gideon White John M Sewell Jno Brice (seal) on the back of the aforegoing was thus Endorsed To wit State of Maryland Sct on the 19th day of April (Eighteen) |
