241 On the back of the aforegoing was thus Endorsed Vizt Anne Arundel County to wit On the third day of October Eighteen hundred & five Came Thomas Frances before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid & Acknowledged the within Instrument of writing to be his Act and deed according to the true Intent & meaning thereof Acknowledged before Recd 14th of October 1805 John Cord Ex.d To all whom it may Concern be it known that I Richard Dorsey of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland for divers good Causes and Considerations me thereunto moving as also in further Consideration of the sum of seventy Dollars Current money to me in hand paid have released from Slavery liberated manumitted and set free and by these presents. Do hereby release from Slavery liberate Manumit and Set free my negro Woman named Priss otherwise called Priscilla who is able to work and gain a Sufficient livelihood and maintenance and her the said negro Woman named Priss alias Priscilla I do declare to be henceforth free manumitted & discharged from all manner of Servitude or Service to me my Executors or administrators forever In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal this Nineteenth day of October in the year of our lord one thousand Eight hundred & five |
