197 Know all men by these presents that we Nicholas Brewer and Sarah Brewer his wife which said Sarah was the Administratrix of Charles Maccubbin deceased have and by these presents do manumit liberate and make free a negro woman called Lucy formerly the property of the said Charles McCubbin In Testimony whereof we have hereto set our hands and seals the twenty third day of August eighteen hundred and four Signed Sealed & delivered Nich.s Brewer (seal) in the presence of Sarah Brewer (seal) Jo.s Wilkins on the back of the aforegoing was Lewis Duvall thus endorsed Viz.t On the twenty third day of August eighteen hundred and four Nicholas Brewer and Sarah his wife severally acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be their act and deed before me a Justice of the peace for Anne arundel County Lewis Duvall Recorded Aug.t 23 1804 Exam.d I John Eager Howard of the County of Baltimore and State of Maryland do hereby set free from bondage my negro man named Charles aged about fifty eight years also my negro woman named Sal or Sarah wife of the said Charles aged about fifty four years the said Charles and Sal formally belonged to the Estate of Samuel Howard of Ann Arundel County deceased and do for myself my executors and administrators release unto the said Charles and Sal respectively all my right and claim whatsoever as to their persons or to any Estate he or she may |
