141 named Hannah and by these presents have exonerated acquited liberated released manumitted and set at full liberty from all claim or right title or interest I have in and to them by reason of their Bondage or otherwise. As witness I hereto set my hand and seal this 5th day of April 1803 witness Patience Barnes Catherine Shipley (seal) Miranda Barnes Ann Arundel Coty sc.t On this 5th of April 1802 Came the above named Catherine Shipley before me a Justice of the peace for Ct.y afores.d and acknowledged the above instrument of writing to be her act and deed and the negroes Sam and Hannah to be free according to the intent and meaning thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made acknowledged before Walter Worthington Recorded 11 May 1803 I John Norwood of Ann Arundel County for divers good causes and considerations me thereunto moving do hereby manumit and set free the following negroes at the respective times herein after mentioned to wit; Charles to be free in two years from the first day of this march instant Sam to be free in four years from the first of march instant negro George to be free at the end of six years from the first of march instant Jonathan to be free at the end of Eight years from the first of March instant.
