104 that it hath been proved to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof a negro man named Vachel Batson aged about twenty four years about five feet three inches high black complexion with a small scar under the left eye and another near the left nostril was free born and that the said negro man Vachel Batson was raised in the County aforesaid Issued the 27.th day of August 1817 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc I hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof a negro woman named Rhode aged about twenty two years about five feet five inches high brown complexion with a natural mark upon the back of the left wrist and hand is the same person manumitted by Charles Drury by deed dated third day of February in the year seventeen hundred and ninety seven that her freedom commenced on the first day of January eighteen hundred and thirteen and that the said negro woman Rhode was raised in the County aforesaid Issued the 12th day of September 1817 State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc I hereby certify to all whom it doth or may concern that it hath been proved to my satisfaction that the bearer hereof a negro man named Phill aged about thirty seven years about five feet eleven and an half inches high dark complexion with a remarkable scar upon the neck is the same person manumitted by William Simmons |
