and defend forever by these presents to the said Michael S Sparrow
his executors administrators and assigns the said described mare against
me my executors and administrators and against all and every person
or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof provided
nevertheless that in case I the said John H Weaver shall well and
truly pay the said Michael C Sparrow the aforesaid sums above
described as due and owing then and in such case these presents
and every matter and thing herein contained shall be utterly null
and void to all intents and purposes anything herein contained to
the contrary notwithstanding.  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this 30.th day of December eighteen hundred and
forty five                                                         his

             At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

    On this 30.th day of December 1845 before me the Subscriber one of
the justices of the peace for said County personally appears John H.
Weaver the signer to the foregoing instrument of writing and
acknowledges the same to be his act and deed according to the true intent
and meaning thereof and the Acts of Assembly in such case made
and provided                                                   Cha.s Hodges

to William Shipley dated the
20.th day of December 1845
 Know all men by these
presents that I Abner
Linthicum of Anne
Arundel County and state
of Maryland for the consideration of the sum of four hundred
dollars current money to me in hand paid by William Shipley
of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby
acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these
presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said William
Shipley my negro Henry Slave for life which said slave Henry I
will warrant and defend to the said William Shipley his
executors administrators and assigns against me my Executors
and administrators and against every other person or persons
whomsoever.  In witness whereof I have hereunto set my name
and affixed my seal this twentieth day of December eighteen
hundred and forty five
