79 delivered in the presents of Saml Gott At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland. Anne Arundel County to wit On this sixth day of November 1845 personally appeared John Miller before the subscriber a justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid and acknowledged the foregoing deed or instrument of writing to be his act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned Sam.l Gott Recorded the 21.st day of November 1845 costs 87½ cts Paid
Spriggs of said City and State at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained & sold & by these presents doth grant bargain & sell unto the said Moses Spriggs his heirs executors & assigns a certain negro girl slave about five years old named Charlotte Spriggs To Have and To Hold the said negro girl Slave Charlotte above bargained & sold or intended so to be to the said Moses Spriggs his heirs administrators & assigns forever. And I the said John Whittington for myself my heirs executors & administrators the said negro girl named as a slave unto the said Moses Spriggs his executors administrators & assigns against me the said John Whittington my executors & administrators & against all & every other person & persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & forever defend In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 24.th day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty five Witness W.m Glover John Whittington (seal) At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit Be it remembered that on this 24.th day of November in the year eighteen hundred & forty five personally appeared John Whittington of County aforesaid party grantor in the annexed instrument of writing before me the Subscriber a justice of the peace in & for said County & acknowledges the same to be his act and deed W.m Glover Recorded the 24.th day of Nov.b 1845 costs 56¼ cts Paid Ex d d |
