On this 1.st day of November 1845 before me one of the Justices of the
peace of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appears
Edward Wooten and acknowledges the within bill of sale or instrument
of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning
thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided

Bill of sale from William
Marriott to Walter S. Clarke
of negroes dated the twelfth
day of January 1820
 Know all men by these presents
that I William Marriott of
Anne Arundel County and State
of Maryland for the consideration
of the sum of four hundred dollars
current money to me in hand paid by Walter S. Clarke of Prince Georges
County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge
have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do
grant bargain sell and deliver unto Walter S. Clarke of Prince
Georges County and state aforesaid my two negro Girls Bety Jemima
to serve foreteen years from the date hereof Mariah to serve
twenty one years from the date hereof and their respective increase
to serve as follows Boys to serve to thirty years old Girls to twenty
eight years old said servants I will warrant and defend to the said
Walter S. Clarke his executors and administrators and against
every other person or persons whatsoever.  In Witness whereof I have
hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this twelfth day
of January eighteen hundred and twenty

 This Indenture made
this sixth day of November
in the year Eighteen
hundred and forty five
between John Miller of
Anne Arundel County and State of Maryland of the one part
and Thomas J. Hall and Charles Waters of the other part of
Baltimore County and state  Whereas the said John MIller stands
justly indebted to the said Thomas J. Hall in the full and just
sum of five hundred dollars current money and to secure the
payment thereof is willing to execute these presents.  Now
this Indenture witnesseth that the said John Miller for and in
