Ben the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted
bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain
and sell unto the said Robert Welch of Ben his executors
administrators and assigns a negro Girl named Matilda aged
about twelve years and a negro boy named Henry aged ten years
slaves for life. To Have and To Hold the said negro Girl and boy
unto the said Robert Welch of Ben his executors administrators
and assigns forever.  Provided always and these presents are
upon this express condition that if the said Nicholas H Green
shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid the said sum of
in the said note specified according to the tenor and effect of
the said note and shall also well and truly take up and return
all renewals of the said note or substitutes whether the same
be for the whole sum of three hundred and fifty dollars or nay
part thereof then and in that case every matter and thing herein
contained shall cease and determine and be utterly null and void
else to remain in full force and virtue in Law.  In Witness whereof
the said Nicholas H Green hath hereunto set his hand and seal
the day and year first herein before written

    At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit

On this 25.th day of August in the year eighteen hundred
and forty five before me the Subscriber a justice of the peace
of the said State in and for said County personally appeared
Nicholas H. Green he being known to me of my own knowledge
to be the identical person named and described as and professing
to be the party grantor in the aforegoing deed or instrument
of writing and acknowledged the same to be his
act and deed                  Tho.s N. Pindle J. P.
Recorded the 23.rd day of August 1845

County for and in consideration of the sum of the sum of two hundred
and sixty five dollars current money to him in hand paid by Samuel
D. Lynch of the County aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivering
of these presents the receipt whereof he the said Joshua Grimes doth
