Owens At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct On this twenty fifth day of August 1851 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for Anne Arundel County personally appears John E. Gardner constable and acknowledge the foregoing instrument of writing to be his act and deed and at the same time the said John E. Gardner constable made oath that the consideration set forth in the said bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth The word "law" in the twevlth line second page first stricken out Recorded September 2nd 1851 J. their order placed on my petition on the second day of September last past. Have this day for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Edwin W. Duvall the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged transferred set over and assigned and by these presents do transfer set over and assign to the said Edwin W. Duvall of the City of Annapolis in Anne Arundel County aforesaid the said negro Louis Pierman a slave for a term of years and to serve for ten years and six months he being now of the age of twenty two years and being the same slave whom Susan Baldwin was by the said order authorised to sell out of the state of Maryland for turbulent and vicious conduct and the interest of the said Susan Baldwin being in the remainder of the said term of years. To have and To hold the said slave Louis Pierman for and during the rest and residue of his said term of years and no longer to the said Edwin W. Duvall and his executors administrators and assigns. In testimony whereof the said Susan Baldwin and the said Edwin W. Duvall have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals on this fifth day of September in the year eighteen hundred and fifty one Signed sealed and delivered in Susan Baldwin (seal) presence of T.
