shall and will warrant and defend by these presents.  I the
said Thomas J. Hall have put the said Hamilton P. Moss in
full possession by delivering to him the said Hamilton P. Moss,
the said negro woman Rachael, at the sealing and delivery
of these presents, in the name of the whole premises hereby
bargained and sold, or meant and intended to be so, unto
him the said Hamilton P. Moss as aforesaid.   In witness whereof
we have hereunto set our hands and seals this twenty ninth
day of September, in the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred

State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County to wit:

Be it remembered, and it is hereby certified, that on this
twenty ninth day of September, in the year of our Lord one
thousand, eight hundred and fifty, before the subscriber, a
Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland, in and for the
County aforesaid personally appeared Thomas J. Hall, and
Hamilton P. Moss, they being known to me to be the persons named
as, and described, and professing to be the parties, to the foregoing
Indenture, or Instrument of Writing and doth acknowledge the
said Indenture or Instrument of Writing to be their act and
deed, and at the same time, and place personally appeared
Hamilton P.  Moss, the purchaser aforesaid, and made oath in
due form of law, that the consideration set forth, and expressed
in the within Bill of Sale is true and bona-fide.   In testimony
whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my hand, and affixed my
seal the day and year aforesaid

Levi L. Tayman

Thomas P. Gantt
This Indenture made this fifteenth day of
October, eighteen hundred and fifty, between
Levi L. Tayman of Anne Arundel County, in
the State of Maryland of the one part and Thomas P. Gantt of
the same State and County of the other part.   Whereas the said
Thomas P. Gantt is about to become surety for the said Levi in
a recognizance of three hundred dollars, to keep the peace, and has
also become jointly bound with the said Levi, and one William
W. Cooksey, as one of the sureties of the said Levi in a bond dated
