Know all men by these presents that I
Deborah Brian of Baltimore County in the
State of Maryland Executrix and widow of
Nicholas Bryan late of said county and state deceased for
and in consideration, and in the full payment of Joseph M. Brian's
part, share, and proportion of said deceased personal estate
and for divers other good causes me thereunto moving hath
given, granted, bargained, sold and delivered and by these
presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell and deliver, unto the
said Joseph M. Brian, my negro man Peter Shaw aged about
thirty years a slave for life   And I do hereby warrant and
defend unto the said Joseph Brian his heirs and assigns my
said negro man Peter Shaw against all person or persons
whatsoever.   Witness my hand and seal this twenty eighth
day of May one thousand, eight hundred and fifty

Know all men by these presents that I Thomas
Jefferson Hall of Anne Arundel County and State of
Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of two hundred and ninety eight dollars and thirty two cents
lawful money of the United States in hand paid by Landay Linstead
of the County and State aforesaid, at and before the sealing and delivery
of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged:  Have granted,
bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain
and sell, unto the said Landay Linstead, his Executors,
Administrators and assigns one negro named Edward Stewart,
devised to me by the last will and testament of Richard
Gardner of Richard, late of Anne Arundel County deceased, as by
reference thereto will appear, said negro as per said will is to
remain in servitude until he shall have arrived at the age of thirty
eight years he being at the date of this Instrument about sixteen years
and six months old.   To Have and To Hold the said described negro in
accordance with the will above referred to, and as above bargained
and sold to the said Landay Linstead his Executors, administrators and
