347 April in the year of our Lord 1849 R. M. Thomas (seal) Signed sealed & delivered in presence of T G Townshend, A H Pennington State of Maryland City of Baltimore to wit: Be it remembered that on this 27th day of April 1849 before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore personally appeared R. M. Thomas party grantor named in the within Bill of sale or instrument of writing acknowledged the same to be his act and deed. At the same time appeared Edward Reynolds one of the parties grantees therein named and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned therein is bona fide true as therein stated Acknowledged sworn to before A H Pennington State of Maryland Baltimore County sct. I hereby certify that A. H. Pennington Esquire before whom the annexed acknowledgment & affidavit was made and who has thereto subscribed his name and at the time of so doing a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly commissioned and sworn In Testimony whereof I (seal's) hereto set my hand and affix the seal of Baltimore County Court this 5.th day of (Place) May A. presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Charles C. Stewart his executors administrators and assigns a certain negro girl named Mary to serve as a slave for the term of one year from the seventh of January last and her issue to serve according to the deed hereinafter referred to if males until the age of thirty five and females thirty years of age the said negro girl Mary having heirs assigned to said Campbell by Bill of Sale from Joshua Royston bearing date the twenty seventh day of April eighteen hundred and forty four recorded among the chattel records of Baltimore County in Liber No 69 folio 301 after which periods of service the said negro girl Mary and her issue respectively to be free and released from slavery according to the Bill of sale from Robert Frederick to said Royston of 24 May 1842 recorded among the chattel records aforesaid in Liber T K No 65 folio 352 To Have and to Hold the said described negro girl Mary and her said issue to the said Charles C. Stewart his executors administrators and assigns for the periods respectively specified as aforesaid and I the said Bernard M. Campbell for myself my heirs executors and administrators do hereby convey the said negro girl Mary and her said issue unto the said Charles C. Stewart his executors administrators and assigns and the same against me the said Bernard M. Campbell my executors administrators and assigns and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and |
