338 negro woman Dick Mary Levi Margaret Sarah and Tom; and whereas the said Gantt has for many years past been burdened with the entire expenses and support of all said negroes and continues to be: and whereas the said Thomas P. Gantt has undertaken and agreed with the said Holliday to provide for the said Holliday so long as he may live and choose to live in the family of said Gantt comfortable board and clothing and attendance and to release the said Holliday from all charge and liability on account of board or other personal expenses of the said Holliday and his lately deceased wife Ruth Hollyday Now this Indenture witnesseth that the said William L. Holliday for and in consideration of the premises and for and in consideration of the further sum of five dollars in hand paid by the said Thomas P. Gantt the receipt whereof the said Holliday doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained sold and released and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell and release unto the said Thomas P Gantt his executors administrators and assigns all the right title and interest claim and property of him the said WIlliam L. Holliday of in and to the following goods chattels and personal property to wit: negro woman Maria aged about forty years negro boy Dick aged about thirteen years negro girl Mary about ten years of age negro girl Margaret about seven years of age Sarah about five years and negro child Tom about eighteen months of age and negro man Henry about twenty years of age also the following furniture six silver tea spoons six table silver spoons two beds and bedding six chairs and all the interest of the said Holliday in the cattle in the possession of the said Gantt To Have and to Hold all and singular the said negroes goods and chattels and personal property above bargained and sold unto the said Thomas P Gantt his executors administrators and assigns forever. In Testimony whereof the said William L. Holliday has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal on the day and year first above written his In presence of J W Hunter William x L. Holliday (seal) mark State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this eleventh day of April eighteen hundred and forty nine before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state of Maryland and county aforesaid personally appeared William L. Holliday he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party grantor in the foregoing instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed J. W. Hunter State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this eleventh day of April eighteen hundred and forty nine before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the state and county aforesaid personally appeared Thomas P. Gantt the within named grantee and made oath that the consideration set forth in the within Bill of Sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth Sworn before J. W.
