315. and delivering hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John H Sellman and Francis Brashears Jr. all the crop of corn now in the house and in the field all the crop of wheat and rye growing owned by him being on the farm of the said Harriet C Knighton and twenty four Hogs in the pen twenty five Hogs runing at large on the farm one gray Horse and two hundred bushels of oats. To Have and to Hold the same unto the said John H. Sellman and Francis Brashears Jr. their executors and administrators to them and their only proper use and behoof and to and for no other use intent or purpose whatsoever. Provided always and these presents are executed upon that condition that if the said Benjamin Watkins of Ben his executors or administrators shall well and truly indemnify and save harmless the said John H Sellman and Francis Brashears Jr. on account of the said surityship aforesaid then in that case these presents and every matter and thing therein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day & year aforesaid Signed sealed and delivered Benj.a Watkins of Ben (seal) in presence of John H. Sellman (seal) J W Hunter Francis Brashears Jr. (seal) State of Maryland Anne Arundel County sct. Be it remembered that on this nineteenth day of December eighteen hundred and forty eight personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the said state in and for said county Benjamin Watkins of Ben who is known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party grantor therein named and professing acknowledged the same to be his act and deed J. W. Hunter State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit: On this fourth day of January in the year eighteen hundred and forty nine before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the state of Maryland in and for said County personally appeared John H. Sellman and Francis Brashears Jr. the mortgagees to the foregoing instrument of writing and made oath that the consideration set forth in the same is true and bona fide as therein set forth to the best of their knowledge & belief sworn before Allen Marriott Recorded on the 6.th day of January 1849 $1.
