twelve pairs of drilling pants nine nine pairs of same Collanders
fifteen coats four dozen suspenders four dozen shirts three dozen
knives and falks one dozen axes one counter scale one half dozen
spades one half dozen short handle shovels one half dozen of sum
long one half dozen ofling folks one half dozen short one half
dozen traces one dozen curry combs one half dozen hammers one half
dozen hatchets six stand casks

       At the foot of the foregoing was thus written to wit

    On this twenty third day of May 1845 personally appeared
Passmore Mcculloh before me a justice of the peace of the State
of Maryland for Anne Arundel County and acknowledged the
foregoing deed or instrument of writing be his act & deed & the goods
& chattels therein named to be the right & estate of George Williams
& Hiram Mcculloh named therein as grantees according to the
true intent and meaning thereof and the Acts of Assembly
in such case made & provided & I certify that the said
Passmore Mcculloh is known to me as the identical person
named therein as Grantor.  Acknowledged before & certified by
Recorded the 23.rd day of May 1845            W.m Glover

Bill of sale "with a clause of manumission"
from Charles Waters to James Richards
of a female slave named Abigail dated
the tenth day of May 1845
Know all men by
these presents that
I Charles Waters of
Anne Arundel County
in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of thirty dollars to me in hand paid by James Richard Coloured man
of the said County the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have
granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and
sell unto the said James Richards his executors administrators and
assigns my negro female slave named Abigail aged about four
years.  To Have and To Hold the said female slave unto the said James
Richards his executors administrators and assigns from the day
of the date of these presents until the first day of January in the
year eighteen hundred and seventy two and not longer  And be
it further known that from and after the said last
mentioned day and to date and to take effect from and
upon the same and not before I hereby for divers good and
and sufficient causes and considerations me thereunto moving
manumit release from slavery and servitude liberate and
set free the said female slave named Abigail and her the said
female slave I declare to be thenceforth freed manumitted and
