49 Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of James Lea W T Norfolk (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Sc.t Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this Second day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine before the Subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for Anne Arundel County aforesaid personally appears William T Norfolk the party of the first part to the foregoing deed or Indenture and doth acknowledge the said Indenture or Instrument of writing to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Joseph Clarke Exd d d paid 10¼ Recorded the 16.th day of August 1839 Know all men by these that I Richard M Chase of the City of Annapolis in Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of five dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Richard I Jones Thomas Franklin and Richard I Cowman of the same City and County at or before the ensealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Richard M Chase do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Richard I Jones Thomas Franklin and Richard I Cowman their Executors administrators and assigns the following named Negroes to wit Delia Blackstone and John Blackstone and now in my possession To have and To hold the said negroes to the said Richard I Jones Thomas Franklin and Richard I Cowman their Executors administrators and assigns for ever and I the said Richard M Chase for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the aforesaid negroes to the said Richard I Jones Thomas Franklin and Richard I Cowman their Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Richard M Chase my Executors and administrators and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided Nevertheless that in Case I the said Richard M Chase shall indemnify and save harmless the said Richard I Jones Thomas Franklin and Richard I Cowman against all Loss or damage they or either of them may sustain as endorser on two notes the one dated the tenth day of June Eighteen hundred and thirty nine payable ninety days after date for two hundred dollars and endorsed by said Thomas Franklin and (Richard) |
