          At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

       Anne County to wit:  On this nineteenth day of October in the year
Eighteen hundred and forty four before me a Justice of the peace in and for said
County personally appeared the above named John S Selby and acknowledged the
foregoing instrument to be his act and deed                        Wm Glover

60      Recorded the 19th day of October 1844


       Know all men by these presents that I Richard C Hardesty of Anne
Arundel County in the State of maryland for and in consideration that I am
indebted to my Brother Thomas J Hardesty in the further sum of two hundred
and fifty dollars for one years services ending the first day of August last past
and also to save harmless John To Hodges by reason of his endorsement for me
on two several promissory notes each for the sum of two hundred dollars one at
sixty days dated the second of October instant and the other at ninety days and
dated the Eighteenth of October Instant and both of said Notes discounted at the
Farmers Bank of maryland I have granted bargained and sold and by these
presents doth grant bargain and sell unto them the said Thomas J Hardesty and
John T Hodges their heirs Executors administrators and assigns my Crop of
Tobacco in the house my Crop of corn in the field about six hundred bushels of
Oats in the straw and my sorrel mare  To have and To hold the same unto the said
Thomas J Hardesty and John T Hodges his heirs Executors administrators and
assigns for ever  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
the twenty third day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four

presence of      J W Hunter

             At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

       Anne Arundel County to wit:  Be it remembered That on this twenty third
day of October in the year Eighteen hundred and forty four before me the
subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of maryland in and for said
county personally appears Richard C Hardesty he being known to me to be
the Identical person named and described as and professing to be the party
grantor in the aforegoing deed or instrument of writing and acknowledged
the same to be his act and deed                           J W Hunter

50      Recorded the 23rd day of October 1844


          This Indenture made this nineteenth day of October in the year Eighteen
hundred and forty four Between John Miller of Anne arundel County and
State of Maryland of the one part and Thomas J Hall and Charles Waters of
                                                                                              (Baltimore)
