282 three thousand weight of Tobacco one negro woman named Eliza about twenty one years old one Negro woman named Jane aged seventeen years one negro boy named Daniel aged sixteen years two beds beadsteads and bedding two Carpets one beaurow one dozen Chaires two Mahogany table one one Stove and kitchen furniture all which property so as aforesaid described and above bargained and sold I do hereby warrant and defend by these presents and declare the same to be the right and Estate of the said William Bryan according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof In testimony whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal this seventeenth day of October 1843 Signed Sealed and delivered in Margarett Hall (seal) presence of Wm Glover At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Maryland Sct On this seventeenth day of October personally appeared Margaret Hall party grantor above mentioned before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for Anne Arundel County and State aforesaid and acknowledge the same to be her act and deed according to the purport true intent and meaning thereof and I do Certify that the said Margaret Hall is the identical person signing the above instrument of writing 50 Taken before and Certified by Wm Glover paid Recorded the 18 day of October 1843 Know all men by these presents that I William R Thompson of Anne Arundel County and State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred and fifty dollars Current money to me in hand paid by James Iglehart of the City of Annapolis and State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said James Iglehart his Executors & administrators and assigns one negro boy named Charles aged about seventeen years a slave for life now in my possession To have and To hold the same described property above bargained and sold to the said James Iglehart his Executors administrators and assigns for ever to his and their only proper use and benefit and I the said William R Thompson for myself my Executors and administrators shall and will warrant and for ever defend by these presents to the said James Iglehart his Executors administrators and assigns the said negro boy Charles against me my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whomsoever claiming the same or any part thereof In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the seventeenth day of October Eighteen hundred and forty three Signed |
