           At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

    State of maryland Anne Arundel County Sc  Be it remembered and it is
hereby Certified that on this thirteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one
thousand Eight hundred and forty three before the subscriber a Justice of the
peace of the State of maryland in and for said County personally appears
Adam Miller he being known to me to be the person who is named and
described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing instrument of writing
and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed  In Testimony whereof I
hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid

          Know all men by these presents that I William Burton of Ann
Arundel County State of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of
one hundred and five dollars in hand paid by Rezin Hammond of County
and State aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents
the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold
and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Rezin
Hammond his Executors administrators and assigns a negro boy named
Horace his Executors administrators and assigns a negro boy named
Horace to serve unto the 7th of October Eighteen hundred and fifty five and then
to be free  To have and To hold the said described negro boy Horrace above
bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said Rezin
Hammond his Executors administrators and assigns and I the said William
Burton for myself my heirs Executors administrators the said Negro boy
Horrace unto the said Rezin Hammond his Executors administrators and
assigns against me the said William Burton my Executors and administrators
and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and for ever defend by these presents  In Witness whereof we have
hereunto set our hands and seals this twenty fourth day of June Eighteen
hundred and forty three
Signed Sealed and delivered in the         William Burton      (seal)
presence of         Abner Linthicum         Rezin Hammond    (seal)

          On the back of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

          Anne Arundel County & State of maryland

                      Be it remembered That on this twenty fourth day of June
1843 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said county appears
William Burton and Rezin Hammond and acknowledges the above
instrument of writing to be their act and deed according to the true intent
