235 hereunto set their hands and seals this twenty first day of February in the year Eighteen hundred and forty three Signed Sealed & delivered in presence of Jno Mercer (seal) Saml H Hamilton Margt Mercer (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this twenty first day of February 1843 the above named John Mercer and Margaret Mercer appeared before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be their act and deed Acknowledged before Joseph Norris chd 72 8½ Recorded the 27 day of February 1843 Whereas John Boone of Nicholas of Anne Arundel County in the State of Maryland by his last will and testament bearing date twenty fifth day of October Eighteen hundred and six and among other bequests give and bequeath unto his daughter Charlotte Boone one negro woman named Priss and herein made to serve until they serve thirty five years of age as well fully appear upon reference to the said will and testament of the said John Boone of Nicholas now among the records of the Orphans Court of Anne Arundel County And whereas Moses Lawrence late of Anne Arundel County deceased did purchase from John Gray the husband of the said Charlotte Boon all his right title and claim and demand of in and to the said Priss to serve him and his heirs until she should attain the age of thirty five years as directed by the last will and testament of John Boone of Nicholas of Anne Arundel County And whereas the above named Priss did among her increase have a son by the name of Alfred born on the tenth day of June Eighteen hundred and seventy one to serve by the direction of her last will and testament of the above mentioned John Boone of Nicholas until he attained thirty five years of age Now Know all men by these presents that I Joshua Grimes Executor of the last will and testament of the above named Moses Lawrence for and in Consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars Current money to me in hand paid by Thomas J Brice who now is and for more than one year last passed been born a bona fide resident of the State of maryland the receipt whereof I doth hereby acknowledge hath bargained sold assigned and transferred and by these presents doth bargain sell assign and transfer unto the said Thomas J Brice his Executors administrators and assigns all the right and interest in and to the said negro Alfred for and during the period of servitude to be by him served that is to say from the date hereof unto the said negro Alfred shall have attained thirty five years of age which age he will have attained on the tenth day of June Eighteen hundred and fifty six To have and To hold all the right and interest of him the said Joshua Grimes his heirs |
