201 County and state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars lawful money of the United States in hand paid by Marianna Thompson of the City of Baltimore and state of maryland at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Marianna Thompson her Executors administrators and assigns one sorrel mare now being in Arundel County aforesaid in the possession of the said Henry J Thompson To have and To hold the said described Sorrel mare to the said Marianna Thompson her Executors and administrators and assigns forever and I the said Henry J Thompson for myself my heirs Executors and administrators the said Sorrel mare unto the said Marianna Thompson her Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Henry J Thompson my Executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Eighteenth day of October Eighteen hundred and forty two Signed sealed and delivered in the Henry J Thompson (seal) Presence of John W Peale At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland City of Baltimore Ss Be it remembered that on this Eighteenth day of October 1842 before the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County appears Henry J Thompson and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof Acknowledged before John W Peale State of maryland Baltimore County Sct I hereby Certify that John W Peale Gentleman before whom the within acknowledgment was made & who has thereto signed his name was at the time of so doing a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the City of Baltimore duly Commissioned and Sworn In Testimony whereof I hereto subscribe my name and affix the seal of Baltimore (Seal) County Court this 18 day of October 1842 Exd d d Thos Kell Clk Balto Coty Cot chd 53.cts 4 Recorded the 20th day of October 1842 Know all men by these presents that I William H Stewart of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred dollars Current money to me in hand paid by John G Nichols of the County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said William H Stewart do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John G Nichols his Executors administrators and assigns the following negroes to wit a negro woman named Betsey and her three Children |
