180 granted and agreed that in case of default made in payment of the aforesaid draft it shall and may be lawful for the said James Iglehart his Executors and administrators to seize and take into his and their possession the aforesaid negroes and every or any of them and the same to sell at public or private sale for Cash or upon credit and for such prices as he and they shall think fit and the nett proceeds of said sales remaining after payment of all expenses thereof and other Costs and Charges incurred in Execution of this trust to apply to the payment of the aforesaid draft with the interest and Costs accruing thereon and the Surplus proceeds if any to pay over to the said David M Brogden his Executors administrators or assigns In witness whereof the said David M Brogden hath hereunto set his hand and seal this third day of June in the year Eighteen hundred and forty two Signed sealed and delivered in David M Brogden seal presence of Wm Glover At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Anne Arundel County to wit On this third day of June in the year Eighteen hundred and forty two the above named David M Brogden appeared before me a Justice of the peace in and for said County and acknowledged the foregoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed Wm Glover Exd d d chd 62 5 Recorded the 3d day of June 1842 Know all men by these presents that I Leonard Mallonee of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred dollars lawful money to me in hand paid by George Bradford of Howard Destreet in the State aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Leonard Mallonee do hereby acknowledge have given granted bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell unto the said George Bradford his heirs executors administrators and assigns the following negroes To with a woman named Rachel aged about twenty seven years and her two children the one named Robert aged about five years and the other named Ellen aged about one year The said woman and children and their issue to serve the said George Bradford his heirs executors administrators and assigns the males untill they respectively arrive at the age of thirty nine years and the females untill they respectively arrive at the age of thirty five years and then I hereby give and grant to each and every one of the said negroes as they severally arrive at the age aforementioned the privilege of election either to take their freedom upon Condition of their leaving the state of maryland according to the laws thereof or of remaining in said state and Continuing |
