16 Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of Ely S Brown Richard Harden (seal) At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit Maryland Anne Arundel County Sct Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this tenth day of January in the year Eighteen hundred and thirty nine before the Subscriber one of the Justices of the peace of the said state in and for the County aforesaid personally appears Richard Harden he being known to me to be the person named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing Indenture or Instrument of writing and doth acknowledge the same to be his act and deed In Testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Ely S Brown paid 4 Recorded the 12.th day of January 1839 This Indenture Made this Twenty fourth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and thirty Eight between Charles G Worthington of Anne Arundel County in the State of maryland of the one part and William D Bowie of Prince Georges County of the same state of the other part Witnesseth that the said Charles G Worthington for and in consideration of the full sum of Three hundred dollars Current money of the United States to him in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said William D Bowie Trustee as hereinafter mentioned out of the seperate Estate and property of Anne D Worthington wife of the said Charles G Worthington and for and in consideration of the further sum of one dollar to him in hand paid out of the proper moneys of the said William D Bowie the receipt of both which sums the said Charles G Worthington doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said William D Bowie his Executors and administrators a mulatto girl named Ellen now about thirteen years of age To have and To hold the said Mulatto girl unto the said William D Bowie his Executors and administrators In Trust nevertheless for the sole and separate use and enjoyment of the said Anne D Worthington for and during the term of her natural life Provided always that the said Anne D Worthington shall have full power and authority to dispose of the said mulatto girl by last will and testament to whomsoever she may think proper and in default of any such appointment then the said mulatto girl shall descend as (in) |
