be in full force and virtue in law it being expressly understood that this Bill of sale is
executed to indemnify the said Martha D Simmons for being said Normans joint
obligee in said Mortgage to J H Whittington as aforesaid and I the said Samuel Norman
also hereby warrant and forever defend said Negroes by these presents against
all persons whatsoever  In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
affixed my seal this Eleventh day of May in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred
& forty one                                                      Samuel Norman      (seal)

                   At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit

State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit  On this 11th day of May 1841 Came
Samuel Norman before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and
acknowledge the foregoing Bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and
deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and agreeable to the act of
assembly in such Case made and provided

Recorded the 27th day of May 1841


Know all men by these presents that Joseph Sherbert of the County of Anne Arundel
State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of fifty dollars Current money
to me in hand paid by William H Hall Jun.r of the County and state aforesaid at
and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt of which I do hereby
acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant
bargain and sell unto the said William H Hall Junr his Executors administrators and
assigns one brown cow ^and^ one black and white cow six hogs one bed bedstead and
furniture six windsor chairs and one beufet all which property is now in my
possession  To have and To hold the same described property above bargained
and sold to the said Wm H Hall Junr his Executors administrators assigns
forever to his and their only proper use and benefit and I the said Joseph
Sherbert for myself my Executors and administrators shall and will warrant
and will forever defend by these presents to the said WIlliam H Hall Junr
his Executors administrators and assigns the said described property
against me my Executors and administrators and against all and every
other person or persons claiming the same or any part thereof  In Testimony
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and ^affixed my^ seal the 25 day of May 1841
