110 At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County to wit On this 7th day of January Eighteen hundred and forty one personally appeared before me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace for the County aforesaid John H Slemaker and acknowledged the aforegoing Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the act of assembly in such case made and provided chd J W Hunter $50cts 3¾ Recorded the 7th day of January 1841 This Indenture made this eleventh day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty one between Joseph Williams a Coloured man of Anne Arundel County in the state of maryland of the one part And William Taylor of the County and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars Current Money of the United States to the said Joseph Williams in hand paid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents by William Taylor aforesaid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Joseph Williams hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto him the said William Taylor his Executors administrators and assigns a negro girl named Rosella about Eighteen years of age to serve until she attains the age of thirty one years to have and to hold the said negro Girl for her term of service unto the said William Taylor his Executors administrators and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of him the said William Taylor his Executors administrators and assigns In witness whereof the said Joseph Williams and the said William Taylor have hereto Set their hands and affixed their seals the day and year first herein before written his Signed Sealed and delivered in the Joseph x Williams (seal) presents of J W Hunter mark Wm Taylor At the foot of the aforegoing was thus written to wit State of Maryland Anne Arundel County Be it remembered that on this Eleventh day of January Eighteen hundred and forty one personally appears Joseph Williams party grantor mentioned in the within deed or Instrument of writing and William Taylor party grantee as therein mentioned before me the Subscriber Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid and who are satisfied of my own knowledge that the said Joseph Williams and William Taylor are the persons who are named and described as and professing to be parties in said deed and acknowledge the said deed or instrument of writing to be their act and deed J W Hunter chd Recorded the 12th day of January 1841 |
