84 Received to be recorded on the 9.th day of April 1855 same day recorded and examined per W. H. Worthington clk
and twenty five dollars lawfull money to me in hand paid by John Warfield of (Joshua) of the county and state aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receit whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said John Warfield of (Joshua) his executors administrators or assigns one negro boy named Nicholas now about Ten years and five months old to serve untill he arrives to the age of thirty one years and then be free according to a Deed of Mannumission bearing date the Eighteenth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two and recorded among the records of Howard county in Liber E. P. H. No 2. Folio 428 a reference thereto being had will more fully and at large appear. To Have and To Hold the said Negroe Boy Nicholas above bargained and sold to the said John Warfield of (Joshua) his executors administrators and assigns which said Negroe Boy Nicholas I will warrant and defend unto the said John Warfield of (Joshua) his executors administrators or assigns and against me my executors administrators and against every other person or persons whomsoever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this 31.st day of March one thousand eight hundred and fifty five signed sealed and delivered in the ~ of Jonathan Waters (seal) J.
