Reuben Warfield & wife
manumission to
Mary Ellen & Betty
 We Reuben Warfield and Achsah
D. Warfield of Howard County
and State of Maryland do hereby
manumit and set free our slaves
Mary Ellen and Betty said Mary Ellens Freedom to commence
from the twenty seventh day of July Eighteen hundred
and sixty three all children she may have prior to
that date shall be free males at the age of Thirty five ^years^ and
females at the age of thirty years and so of their generations
forever  The freedom of the said Betty who is now eighteen
months old shall take effect when she arrives at the age
of thirty years and her issue if any shall be free males at
the age of thirty years and females at the age of Twenty
five years and so of their generations for ever
Witness our hands and seals this fifth day of May
Eighteen hundred and sixty

State of Maryland Howard County to wit:
    I hereby certify that on this fifth day of May Eighteen
hundred and sixty before the subscriber a Justice of the
peace within and for the State and county aforesaid
personally appeared Reuben Warfield & Achsah D Warfield
his wife and did each acknowledge the aforegoing
manumission to be their respective act
