42 third day of August eighteen hundred and fifty four before me the subscriber a justice of the peace of the state of Maryland in and for the county aforesaid personally appeared Zachariah Brown and McLane Brown parties grantors to the foregoing indenture or instrument of writing and Evan Hughes grantee and severally do acknowledge the same to be their respective act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and at the same time personally appeared the said Evan Hughes party grantee and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration set forth in said Indenture or instrument of writing is true and bona fide as therein set forth Ignatius Waters J. Peace I hereby request Zachariah Brown to assign and transfer negro boy Frank Thomas to Evan Hughes of Howard County. As witness my hand this third day of August one thousand eight hundred and fifty four. Witness McLane Brown J. T. B. bound unto the state of Maryland in the full and just sum of two thousand dollars current money to be paid to the State of Maryland: To the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents Sealed with our seals and dated this first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four.
