417 State of Maryland Howard County to Wit: On this tenth day of January in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and Sixty before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Howard County personally appeared William Baldwin and acknowledged the aforegoing Instrument or Indenture to be his act Charles Soper Received to be recorded on the 17th day of January 1860 at 9½ Oclk AM Same day recorded and Examined per W W Watkins clk
residing within the county of Howard and State of Maryland and attached to the Congregation or Church Commonly Called and Known by the name of Friendship Church having been officially notified of the fact that the board of Trustees of the aforesaid Church is extinct by reason of the death removal Etc of the original Trustees and of such successors as may have been appointed and finding that the fifth section of the act passed April the Fifth one thousand eight hundred and Thirty Nine chapter CCCLXXXVIII make it lawful for a new board of Trustees in such case to be created and being desirous of electing certain of their members as such board of Trustees to be constituted a body politic under and in pursuance of an act of the General Assembly of Maryland entitled An Act to incorporate certain persons in every Christian Church or Congregation in this State" and of the Supplement thereto did assemble together on the Twenty Eighth day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine at the Friendship church (near the Spring Known as the Rattle Snake Spring) being the place ordinarily used for public meetings of said church agreeably to public notice given the preceeding Sabbath and with the Reverend Henry Clay Westwood Minister did ^duly^ elect according to law and the Common usage of the church the following Eight Sober and discreet persons to Wit. Christian Close Samuel Gaither John Henry Windsor James Harban Philip Cissel Samuel Thomas Carr Horatio Johnson and Allen Scrivner to act as trustees of Said Church together with the Said |
