& State of Indiana Do hereby constitute
and appoint John Brown of
                         Howard County & State of Maryland my attorney for me
                         and in my name and for my use to collect by lawful
                         means and upon payment to him to receipt for by Release
                         or under Seal or otherwise all debts or demand
                         Whatsoever due or owing to me as heir of Nicholas Hardy
                         decd   Whatsoever my said attorney shall lawfully
                         do in the premises I do hereby confirm the same as
                         if I was personally present and did the same
                            In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal
                         this 19th day of July A D. 1859
