Witnesseth that the said Mary ann Johnson has placed and bound out and by these presents doth place and bind out her daughter Laura Johnson who on the third day of April next will be of the age of four years as an apprentice to the said Matilda Welsh to be brought up and taught habits of industry and usefulness as a domestic or house servant the said Laura Johnson to dwell with and serve the said Matilda Welsh from the date of these presents until the third day of April eighteen hundred and seventy four when the said Laura Johnson will be of the age of eighteen years during which term the said Laura Johnson shall the said Matilda Welsh well and faithfully serve in all such lawful things and business as the said Laura Johnson may be put at unto by her said mistress according to the ability of her the said Laura Johnson and honestly and obediently in all things shall behave herself towards her said mistress and honestly and obediently towards the rest of her family. And the said Matilda Welsh on her part doth hereby promise covenant and agree that she will well and faithfully furnish and provide for the said apprentice good and sufficient meat, drink, clothing and lodging and other necessaries fit and convenient for such an apprentice during the term aforesaid and at the expiration thereof shall give to the said Laura Johnson two suits of wearing apparel and fifteen dollars in current money In testimony whereof the said Marianna Johnson and Matilda Welsh have hereto set their hands and seals on the date first herein written her Marianna x Johnson (seal) Signed sealed and mark delivered in presence Matilda E.
