Sarah E Johnson who on the eighth day of January next will be
of the age of two years as an apprentice to serve the said Napoleon B
Welsh to be brought up and taught habits of industry and usefulness
as a domestic and house servant:  that the said Sarah E Johnson
to dwell with and serve the said Napoleon B Welsh from the
date of these presents until the eight day of January eighteen hundred
and seventy six when the said Sarah E Johnson shall attain the
age of eighteen years during all which time the said Sarah E Johnson
shall the said Napoleon B Welsh well and faithfully serve in all
such lawful business as the said Sarah E Johnson may put unto
by her said master according to the ability of her the said Sarah
E Johnson and honestly and obediently in all things shall behave
herself towards her said master and honestly and obediently towards
the rest of his family.  And the said Napoleon B Welsh on his
part doth hereby promise covenant and agree that he will well
and faithfully furnish and provide for the said apprentice good
and sufficient meat, drink, clothing lodging and other necessaries fit
and convenient for such an apprentice during the term aforesaid
and at the expiration thereof shall give unto the said Sarah Johnson
two suits of wearing apparrel and fifteen dollars in money
                   In testimony whereof the said Mary Ann Johnson and
Napoleon B Welsh hereto set their hands and seals on the date first
herein written                                                            her

                                   I hereby certify that on this seventh day of
September Eighteen hundred and fifty nine before me a Justice of
the peace for said county personally appeared Mary ann
Johnson and Napoleon B Welsh and did each acknowledge
the aforegoing Indenture to be their respective act and deed
