380 of the age of eight years the son of Deby Thomas of the said county of indigent circumstances to learn the act trade and mystery of farming after the manner of an apprentice the said John Thomas to dwell with and serve the said Josephus Isaacs from the date of these presents until the sixteenth day of April 1873 when the said John Thomas shall attain to the age of twenty one years during all which time and term the said John Thomas shall the said Josephus Isaacs well and faithfully serve in all such lawful business as the said John Thomas shall be put unto by his said master according to the power and ability of him the said John Thomas and honestly and obediently in all things shall behave himself towards his said master and honestly orderly toward the rest of the family of the said Josephus Isaacs. And the said Josephus Isaac on his part doth hereby promise covenant and agree to teach and instruct the said apprentice or cause him to be taught and instruction in the art trade or calling of a farmer by the best way or meanes he can and shall well and faithfully fine and provide for the said apprentice good and sufficient meat drink clothing lodging and other necessaries fit and convenient for such an apprentice during the term aforesaid and at the expiration thereof shall give unto the said apprentice two suits of wearing apparral one suitable for sunday the other for working and thirty dollars as his freedom dues In testimony whereof the said Alfred C Hearn and John Ridgely & Josephus Isaac have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written Signed sealed and Alfred C Hearn (seal) delivered in presence of John Ridgely (of Jno) (seal) Joshua A Thompson his Josephus x Isaac (seal) mark Received to be recorded on the 7th day of September 1859 and same day Recorded and Examined pr W. and firmly bound unto the State of maryland in the full and just sum of two thousand dollars current money to be paid to the state of maryland: To the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and heirs, Executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dates this sixteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty nine.
