Wilson of the State and County aforesaid have
hereby granted bargained and sold and by these
presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said
John Wilson his executors administrators and assigns
one negro woman named Mary.  To have and to
hold the said negro woman Mary above bargained
and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the
said John Wilson his executors administrators and
assigns forever.  And I the said Olivia Brown for
myself my heirs executors and administrators
the said negro woman Mary unto the said John
Wilson his executors administrators and assigns
against me the said Olivia Brown my executors and
administrators and against all and every other
person or persons whatsoever shall and will
warrant and forever ^warrant and^ defend by these presents the
said negro Mary remaining in my possession and
the said John Wilson agreeing that should he die
before the note of hand above named shall be paid
that then and in that case the said negro Mary ^is^ to be
the property of my three children James F. Edelin
Mary Ellen Edelin and John Henry Edelin.  In witness
whereof I have hereto set my name and affixed my
seal on this fifteenth day of July in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty four

Be it remembered that on this fifteenth day of July
in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and fifty four before the subscriber a  justice of the
peace of the State of Maryland in and for Howard
County personally appears Olivia Brown and
acknowledges the foregoing instrument of writing
to be her act and deed for the purposes therein
mentioned.  And at the same time also appears
John Wilson and makes oath on the Holy Evangely
of Almighty God that the consideration mentioned
in the said instrument of writing is true and bona
fide as therein set forth.  Acknowledged and sworn
before
