       State of Maryland Howard County sct:
I hereby certify that on this ninth day of October in the year of our
Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty eight before me the subscriber
a justice of the peace of the state of Maryland and for the county
aforesaid personally appeared the said Seth W. Warfield administrator
as aforesaid and party to the aforegoing bill of sale and acknowledged
the said bill of sale to be his act and deed.  In testimony
whereof I hereto subscribe my name on the day and year
aforesaid

Mary B Brown
  Deed of Manumission to
Mary Elizabeth Boston
I Mary B. Brown of Howard County
and state of Maryland do hereby manumit
and set free my negro slave Mary Elizabeth
Boston who will be two years of age on the twenty second day
of October Eighteen hundred and fifty eight her freedom
to commence when she arrives at the age of eighteen years
the said slave Mary Elizabeth to dwell with and serve her
mother Jane Boston until she arrives at the aforesaid age
of eighteen years
                  Witness my hand and seal this sixth day of
October in the year eighteen hundred and fifty eight
