                            Baltimore City Sct.
       I hereby certify that Samuel Kennedy Owings Esquire
before whom the annexed affidavit was made and who
has thereto subscribed his name was at the time of so
doing a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and
for the City of Baltimore duly Commissioned and Sworn
                         In Testimony Whereof I hereto set my hand
       (Seals)        and affix the Seal of the Superior Court of
       (Place)        Baltimore City this twenty fifth day of
                         March A. D. 1858

Know all men by these presents that
I John Elder of Howard County in the
State of maryland for and in consideration
of the sum of $167 Dollars and
                              Thirty cents to me in hand paid by Joshua Knox of the
                              County and state aforesaid at and before the sealing and delivery
                              of these presents the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge
                              have granted bargained and sold and by these presents
                              do grant bargain and sell unto the said Joshua Knox
                              his executors Administrators and assigns the following property
                              to wit one Black mare Twelve barrels of corn two lots
                              of fodder two seed plows two shovel plows 2 cultivators 2
                              sets of harness 2 Saddles and one mahogany Table 2 work stands
                              all of which property is now in my possession.  To have and to
                              hold the above described property so bargained and sold unto
                              the said Joshua Knox his executors administrators and assigns
                              forever to his and their only proper use and benefit  And I the
                              said John Elder for myself my executors and administrators
                              shall and will forever warrant and defend by these presents
                              to the said Joshua Knox his executors and administrators and
                              assigns the said described property against me my executors
                              and administrators and against all and every other person
                              or persons whomsoever claiming or to claim any part
                              thereof.  In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand
                              and seal this twenty fourth day of February Eighteen hundred
                              and fifty eight
