    State of Marylond  Howard County to wit:
         I hereby Certify that on this 19.th day of Septr 1857 personally
appeared William A. Burten before the subscriber one of the Justices
of the Peace in and for the said County and acknowledged the
foregoing bill of sale to be his act
                                     Test:   R. C. Nicholson J.P.

       Be it remembered that on this 23.rd day of Septr 1857
personally appeared before the subscriber the within named
Isaac Burten Sen.r & Isaac Burten J.r and made oath that
thay Require of William A. Burten the within named
property to secure to them the amount of money therein
named which thay are justly indebrord and bound as
surityes for the said W.m A. Burten

    I Alexander L. Mackey of the
City of Baltimore in the State of
Maryland in order to secure
George Howard and Thomas
Burgess on account of their
                            liability on my bond as Guardian of Elizabeth Zulieka Dorsey
                            which bond is for the sum of two thousand five hundred
                            dollars on which bond the said Howard and Burgess are sureties
                            in consideration thereof and of the sum of five dollars in hand
                            paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents
                            the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge   I do hereby
                            bargain and sell to the said George Howard and Thomas
                            Burgess all my right title and interest in negro slaves
                            Julia Isabella and her two children and Levy (the said negroes
                            having been the property of my late wife) provided that if the
                            said Alexander L. Mackey shall discharge all sums due
                            by him as guardian of the said Elizabeth Z. Dorsey above
                            named and shall relieve said Howard and Burgess and
                            their representatives from all legal liability as sureties on
                            the said Guardian's bond and shall repay to the said
                            Burgess and Howard all sums that they or either of them
                            shall at any time pay on account of their liability as such
                            sureties then these presents to be void      And the conveyance
