his custody and shall also satisfy and pay all judgments which
shall or may be rendered against him as Sheriff and shall
also well and truly execute and perform the several duties
required of or imposed upon him by the laws of this state
then this obligation to be void and of none effect otherwise
to remain in full force and virtue in law

 Know all men by these presents
that we Enock G. Thompson and
Enock S. Brown executors of
last will and testament of M.cLane
Brown deceased of Howard
County and State of Maryland
for and in consideration of the
                              sum of six hundred and ten dollars lawful money of the
                              United States in hand paid by Evan Hughes of said County
                              and State at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents
                              the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged: have granted
                              bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain
                              and sell unto the said Evan Hughes his executors administrators
                              and assigns  one negro boy Charles aged thirteen
                              years and five months a negro for a term of years to serve
                              until he arrives at the age of thirty five years that term
                              expiring on the thirtieth day of April eighteen hundred
                              and seventy eight         To Have and To Hold the said
                              described Negro Man Charles to the said Evan Hughes
                              his executors administrators and assigns forever; And
