    Bill of Sale
           to
John T. Forsythe
 Know all men by these
presents that I Elizabeth Warfield
of Howard County of the State of Maryland
of the first part for and in consideration
of the sum of two hundred
                dollars lawful money of the United States to me in hand paid
                at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents by John T.
                Forsyth of the same State and County of the second part the
                receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have bargained and
                sold and by these presents do grant and convey unto the said
                party of the second part his executors administrators and
                assigns one negro woman Harriet   To Have and To
                Hold the same unto the said party of the second part his
                executors administrators and assigns for the term of five
                years from the twentyeth day of May in the year of our Lord 1856
                      And I do for myself, my heirs, executors and administrators
                Covenant and agree to and with the party of the second part to
                warrant and defend the sale of said Negress hereby sold
                unto the party of the second part his executors, administrators
                and assigns against all and every person or persons whomsoever
                      In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and
                seal this sixth day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty seven
                   Signed Sealed and delivered                     her
                      in the presence of                     Elizabeth x Warfield   (seal)
                            Thomas J. Hood J. P.                    Mark

                State of Maryland  Howard County to wit:
                            I hereby certify that on this sixth day of January
                1857 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice
                of the Peace for Howard County aforesaid Elizabeth Warfield
                and acknowledged the foregoing bill of sale to be her act
                                                                               Tho.s Jno Hood J. P.

                      State of Maryland Howard County to wit:
                            On this tenth day of January in the year of our Lord
                1857 before me the subscriber a justice of the Peace in and
                for the said County personally appeared John T. Forsyth
                and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that
                the consideration in the above bill of sale is true and bona
                fide as therein set forth
