82 other the premises unto the said Richard M. Beall his Executors administrators and assigns against me the said Charles F. Goldsborough my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I the said Charles F. Goldsborough have hereunto set my hand and seal on this fourth day of January eighteen hundred and fifty four Signed, Sealed and delivered in the presence of Charles F. Goldsborough (seal) Charles Corkran J P State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that on this fourth day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty four before the Subscriber, one of the Justices of the peace, in and for the County and State aforesaid personally appeared Charles F. Goldsborough he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party grantor in the within and aforegoing bill of Sale ^and acknowledged the Said Bill of Sale^ or instrument of writing to be his act and deed. And, at the same time and place, also appeared before me Richard M. Beall he being known to me to be the person who is named and described as and professing to be the party grantee in the said bill of Sale and made oath that the Consideration set forth in the said bill of sale is true and bona fide as therein set forth. In testimony whereof I hereunto subscribe my name on the day and year aforesaid Charles Corkran J. P. 1854 January 5.th Received of Richard M. Beall the sum of one Dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Bill of Sale Frances J Henry Clk Arthur Pritchett Senr Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following bill of sale was received √ from xd and recorded on the 4th day of January 1854 to wit David Hardican & Wife Know all men by these presents that we David Hardican and Elizabeth Hardican his wife of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in Consideration of the sum of Five Hundred Dollars Current money of Maryland to us in hand paid by Arthur Pritchett Senr of Dorchester County and State aforesaid, at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof we the said David Hardican and Elizabeth his wife do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Arthur Pritchett Senr his heirs executors and administrators one negro Boy Named Patrick aged about Eighteen years a Slave for life. To have and To Hold the said negro Boy Patrick as above bargained and Sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said Arthur Pritchett Senr his heirs Executors administrators and assigns forever and we the said David Hardican and Elizabeth his wife for ourselves our heirs executors and administrators, all and singular the said negro Boy Patrick unto the said Arthur Pritchett Senr his executors administrators and assigns against us the said David Hardican and Elizabeth his wife our Executors and administrators, and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents In Testimony whereof, we David Hardican and Elizabeth Hardican his wife have hereunto subscribed our names and affixed our Seals this Twenty Seventh day of December Eighteen Hundred and fifty three Signed Sealed and delivered in the presence of David Hardican (seal) D. W. Tyler W. J. Cowart Elizabeth Hardican (seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit: Be it remembered that on this twenty seventh day of December in the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and fifty three before us the subscribers two Justices of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for the County aforesaid personally appeared David Hardican and Elizabeth Hardican his wife party grantors in the foregoing Bill of Sale or instrument of writing and severally and respectively did sign seal and acknowledge the said instrument of writing to be their several respective acts and deeds; and the said Elizabeth Hardican wife of the Said David Hardican and out of the presence and hearing of her said husband did appear before us and sign seal execute and acknowledge the aforegoing instrument of writing to be her act and deed |
