62 State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bond from x.d was received and recorded on the 26.th day of July 1853 to wit James E. Douglass & others Know all men by these presents that we James E. Douglass, ($6.00) James Davis Isaac Davis John Baker Charles W. Carroll Jas R. Nicols, (Stamp) Henry D Wright of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of fourteen thousand nine hundred and thirty four dollars and sixty cents Current money of the United States to be paid to the said State or its certain Attorney to the which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves and each of us our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents sealed with our seals and dated this eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty three. The condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden James E. Douglass appointed Collector of the Direct Tax for Dorchester County shall well and faithfully execute the office of Collector of the Direct Tax for said County and the several duties required of him by Law and shall well and truly account for and pay to the Treasurer of Maryland the several sums of money which he shall receive or be answerable ^for^ by Law, at such time as the Law shall direct then the above obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue in Law. Wright, Silas Flemming, of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland, are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland, in the full and just sum of fifty five thousand one hundred and thirty five Dollars and twenty two Cents, Current money of the United States, to be paid to the said State or its certain Attorney, to the which payment well and truly to be made and done, we bind ourselves and each of us, our and each of our heirs executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents, sealed with our seals and dated this eleventh day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty three. The Condition of the obligation is such that if the above bounden James E. Douglass appointed Collector of Dorchester County shall well and faithfully execute the Office and the several duties required of him by law and shall well and truly account for and pay to the Commissioners for Dorchester County or their order the several sums of money which he shall receive or be answerable for by law at such time as the law shall direct then the above obligation to be void or else to be and remain in full force and virtue in Law.
