Nathan Williams      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Indenture was received
√      From   xd        and recorded on the 13th day of October Anno Domini 1857 to wit:
William Hardcastle   For Dorchester County Orphans Court William Hardcastle a free negro boy of the
                               age of seven years the sixteenth day of March last past being brought into Court;
and it being represented to the Court that the said William Hardcastle is not at service or learning a
trade or employed in the service of his parents and that he is without means sufficient for his maintenance
or support; and the Court being satisfied that said representation is true and believing also that
it would greatly conduce to the good of the said child that he should be put to learn some trade
or useful business.    The said William Hardcastle is therefore on this thirteenth day of October in
the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven bound as an apprentice by Zadock
H. Rosse and Levin Jones Justices of the Orphans' Court for Dorchester COunty to Nathan Williams
until he the said William Hardcastle shall arrive to the age of twenty one years; under the provisions
of an act of the General Assembly of Maryland passed December Session 1839 Chapter
35.   And the said Nathan Williams being here present in Court agrees to take the said William
Hardcastle as an apprentice until he shall arrive to the said age:  And the said Nathan Williams
doth also on his part acknowledge himself bound and by these presents doth contract promise
and agree to teach the said apprentice the trade of a Farmer, and to supply him with suitable
clothing and maintenance during his apprenticeship and when said apprentice becomes free to
give him twenty dollars in Cash and two suits of good clothing as freedom dues; and the further
sum of Twenty five Dollars in lieu of education.      In Witness Whereof we hereunto subscribe
our names and affix our seals to this Indenture this thirteenth day of October in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven.

Thomas K Eunick                 Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill
√         From  xd                   of Sale was received and recorded on the 3.d day of December 1858 to wit
Moses Kennard free negro   I Moses Kennard free colored man of Dorchester County in the
                                            State of Maryland in Consideration of the sum of Three Hundred
& fifty Dollars paid me by Thomas K. Eunick of the same County and State aforesaid do
hereby bargain and sell to the said Thomas K. Eunick the following property one Grey Horse
Called "Billy" one Sorrel Horse Called Billy (blind) one bay Horse Called "Clayton" one
Black Cow, two Horse Carts and Gear, three carriages, two plows, two Harrows, five head of hogs, Two
Beds, Bedsteads and furniture.  Together with ^all^ the rest and residue of his Household & Kitchen furniture
also all the said Kennard's interest in the crop of wheat seeded on the lot now owned by David
Wing free negro.      Witness my hand and seal this second day of December one thousand eight
hundred and fifty seven.                                                                                    his

                            State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit:   I hereby Certify that on this
Second day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty seven
before the subscriber one of the State of Maryland's Justices of the Peace in and for the County
of Dorchester personally appeared Moses Kennard free colored man the bargainor mentioned in the
above Bill of Sale and acknowledged the aforegoing Bill of Sale to be his act.  At the same
time and place also personally appeared before me Justice as aforesaid, Thomas K Eunick party
