274 therein named which Mortgage Bill of Sale is recorded in Folio D F J H page 209 of Chattel Records of Dorchester County and whereas the Consideration of said Mortgage Bill of Sale has been fully paid and satisfied by the said John H. Hodson. Now therefore we Thomas B. Sherman and Jacob Wilson of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland in Consideration of the above premises and of the sum of Five Dollars to us in hand paid by the said John H. Hodson at and before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged do hereby sell to the said John H. Hodson the following property negro Woman Mariah aged 33 years a slave for life Frances Ann aged 13 years a slave for life & negro boy Tom aged 11 years a slave for life. Witness our hands & seals this 24th day of April 1857 Tho.s B. Jones his wife and Mary Jones of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for divers good causes and Considerations to us thereunto moving do release our negro man Levin Camper from bondage after the 28th January 1858 for the aforesaid Levin Camper to be released from slavery liberated and set free the said Levin now being of the age of thirty years and able to work and gain a sufficient livelihood and maintainance and him the said negro Levin Camper to be free from the above date from us our heirs assigns exes adms forever.
