In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and seal this twenty first day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty seven (1857) Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of Joel Cornwell [seal] Josiah Kerr Dorchester County ss: Be it remembered that on this twenty first day of January 1857 before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for said County appears Joel Cornwell and acknowledges the above Instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before A. H. Hurley J. P. Dorchester County State of Maryland sc. Be it remembered on this 5th day of February in the year A. D. Eighteen hundred and fifty seven before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the County aforesaid appeared Charles C Cornwell party grantee to the within Bill of SAle and made oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the consideration therein named is true and Bona fide. Sworn before A. H. Hurley J. P. Amos Bowdle Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale Paid From xd was received and recorded on the 16th day of February 1857 to wit William L Hearn I Wm L. Hearn of Dorchester County and State of Maryland in Consideration of Seven Hundred Dollars paid me by Amos Bowdle resident of the same County and State do hereby bargain and sell to the said Amos Bowdle my negro slave Garrison for the ballance of the term he is to serve the said negro having been manmitted by Deed executed by Mary Ford on the 18th day of August 1847 being therein stated to be seventeen years of age and to serve until he is forty one years of age and then to be free and the said Wm L. Hearn being entitled to said slave for the ballance of his term of servitude by Bill of Sale from Dr Wm B LeCompte on the 14th day of August 1848. Witness our hands and seals this 16th day of February 1857 (Vendor) Wm L.
