25 Clerks office of Dorchester County, and for and in Consideration of the Sum of two hundred and fifty one dollars and thirty one Cents, Current money, grant bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff and Confirm unto the said John S. Staplefort, his heirs, and assigns one negro woman Eliza, aged about 24 years, of brown colour, as by reference to said deed of mortgage will more fully and at large appear. And whereas the said Joseph Weatherly hath fully paid and satisfied to him the said John S. Staplefort the above mentioned sum of money and interest thereon he, the said John S. Staplefort doth agree to execute this instrument of writing as a full release of the above described negro woman Eliza. Now this indenture witnesseth, that the said John S. Staplefort for and in Consideration of the payment of the above Sum of money and the interest thereon, and for and ^in^ Consideration of the sum of one dollar, to him in hand paid by the said Joseph Weatherly, at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and sold, released, enfeoffed and Confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell and release enfeoff and Confirm unto him the said Joseph Weatherly his heirs and assigns forever, the above mentioned negro woman Eliza. To Have and To Hold the said negro woman Eliza unto the said Joseph Weatherly his heirs and assigns to the only proper use of the said Joseph Weatherly his heirs and assigns forever In testimony whereof the said John S. Staplefort has hereunto set his hand and seal, on the day and year first above written Signed Sealed and delivered J. S. Staplefort (seal) in the presence of D. W. Tyler Dorchester County Maryland Be it remembered that on this 3.rd day November 1852, before the subscriber, a Justice of the Peace for said County appears John S. Staplefort, grantee and mortgagee and acknowledges the above instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof, Also appeared Joseph Weatherly named in the above release of Mortgage and made Oath on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that the Consideration therein named is bona fide true as is therein set forth Sworn before & Certified by D. W. Tyler 1852 Nov 4th Received of Doct.r Joseph Weatherly the sum of one dollar in lieu of a stamp on this Release of Mortgage Francis J. Henry Clk James A. Stewart Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Exd from Sale was received and recorded on the 6th day of November 1852 to wit: John Brown Know all men by these presents that I John Brown of Dorchester County State of Maryland son of Elizabeth Pattison who married William Brown for & in Consideration of the sum of thirty dollars to me in hand paid by James A. Stewart of said County have granted bargained sold assigned transferred set over & by these presents do grant bargain sell assign transfer & set over unto the said James A. Stewart his heirs executors administrators & assigns all the right title interest Claim and demand I now have or have at any time heretofore had or may hereinafter accrue to me of in & to a certain negro woman Ret mentioned & devised in the last will & Testament of Otho Pattison deceased of Dorchester County together with her offspring & Each & all of the offspring of the said woman Ret To Have and To Hold the same unto the said James A. Stewart his heirs executors administrators & assigns against me the said John Brown my heirs executors and administrators & against all & every other person or persons Claiming under them In testimony whereof I have hereunto |
