248 to the act ^entitled an additional supplement to the act^ to regulate Ferries have contracted with the said William H Reed to keep the Ferry over the north west fork of Nanticoke River commonly called Crotchers Ferry and agree to allow the said William H. Reed the sum of one hundred and seventy five dollars current money for the same Now the condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden William H. Reed shall well faithfully and diligently keep the said Ferry over the North West fork of Nanticoke River Commonly called Crotchers Ferry from the dawn of daylight in the morning until the expiration of day light in the Evening each day from the first day of January 1857 until the first day of January 1858 and shall keep constantly and in good order a scow that will safely carry three passengers and three horses at one trip with an able bodied and skilful hand to attend the said Ferry and shall not charge or receive any greater price for services than what is allowed by Law signed sealed & delivered William H. Reed (seal) in the presence of Cyrus Bell (seal) Samuel Twilley William H. Brinsfield (seal) 1856 December 22d The above Bond and sureties approved by the County Commissioners for Dorchester County Josiah Jump clk to County Commissioners The State of Maryland Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified √ from xd that the following Bond was recorded on the Robert Bell & others 19th day of December A D 1856 to wit. Know all men by these presents that that we Robert Bell, Algernon Corkran, Charles W Carroll, Charles Johnson, Thomas Lambdin, Jesse Richardson, Edward W. Lecompte & Charles F Goldsborough of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland are held and firmly bound unto the State of Maryland in the full and just sum of twenty Six thousand Six hundred and Sixty six dollars sixty six and two third cents Current Money to be paid to the said State or its Certain attorney to which payment well and truly to be made and done we bind ourselves our heirs Executors and administrators jointly and severally firmly by these presents: Sealed with our Seals and dated this nineteenth day of December in the year Eighteen hundred and fifty Six. The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the above bounden Robert Bell as sheriff of Dorchester County do and shall well and faithfully Execute the same office in all things appertaining thereto and shall also render to the several officers within this State a just and true account of all fees placed in his hands for Collection |
