Rosanna Barnett      Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Bill of Sale was received
Paid    from   xd       and recorded on the 29th day of September Anno Domini 1856 to wit:
David M Corkran     I David M Corkran of Dorchester County in Consideration of Three Hundred Dollars
                                paid me by Rose Ann Barnett of Dorchester County do hereby bargain and sell to the
said Rose Ann Barnett the following property one negro Girl Harriet slave for life.  Witness my hand and
seal this 29th day of September in the year 1856.

                                                             State of Maryland Dorchester County to wit:  I hereby certify
that on this 29th day of September personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace for
Dorchester County aforesaid David M Corkran and acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale to be his
act and at the same time appeared Rose Ann Barnett grantee in the above Bill of Sale and made oath
that the Consideration therein stated is just and true as therein set forth

James Murphey         Be it remembered and it is hereby Certified that the following Mortgage Bill    
    √   from   xd          of Sale was received and recorded on the 8th day of October 1856, to wit:
William Batchelor      This Indenture made this twentieth day of February in the year of our Lord
                                 Eighteen Hundred and fifty six between William Batchelor of Dorchester and
State of Maryland of the one part and James Murphey of Dorchester County and State aforesaid of
the other part.  Whereas the said William Batchelor owes and stands justly indebted to the said James
Murphey in the sum of Sixty six Dollars Current money and to secure the payment thereof is willing
to execute these presents.  Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said William Batchelor for and
in Consideration of the sum of Five Dollars Current money to me in hand paid by the said James Murphey
at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said William Batchelor doth
hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom doth acquit exonerate and forever discharge the said James
Murphey his heirs executors and administrators and every of them by these presents hath granted bargained
and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto James Murphey his Executors administrators
and assigns all and singular the personal property hereinafter particularly mentioned and expressed
(that is to say) one sorrel mare Betsy Hawkins and Horse Cart one light Brindle Cow and one stear yearling
To Have and To Hold all and singular the said personal property herein before granted
bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be unto the said James Murphey his executors
administrators and assigns forever.  Provided Always, and these presents are upon this condition that
if the said William Batchelor his executors or administrators shall and do well and truly pay or cause
to be paid unto the said James Murphey his Executors administrators or assigns the full sum of sixty
six Dollars Current money with legal interest for the same on or before the twentieth day of February
in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and fifty seven then and in such case these presents and every
matter and thing herein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes
any thing herein contained to the contrary thereof in any wise notwithstanding; and the said William Batchelor
for himself, his heirs, Executors or administrators or some or one of them shall and will well and
truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James Murphey his executors administrators and assigns the said
sum of Sixty six Dollars together with interest for the same at such time as in the within recited premises
and conditioned herein mentioned and appointed for the payment thereof.  And the said William Batchelor
for himself his executors and administrators all and singular the said personal property by these presents
granted bargained and sold and every part thereof unto the said James Murphey his executors administrators
and assigns against him the said William Batchelor his executors administrators and against all and every
